Cnoc Nan Uan

I stayed with my husband in Cnoc Nan Uan in May this year.
Effie offers one of the best B&B plus evening meal experiences. She has really comfortable, very clean accommodation and is an excellent cook, who consults with guests on their food preferences.
If you enjoy beaches, birdwatching, cycling and sites of prehistoric interest Cnoc Nan Uan is the perfect place for a break. The B&B is within an easy, beautiful walk to Balranald RSPB Nature Reserve.

This is simply a lovely place to stay! Effie was a kind, warm and thoughtful host who went out of her way to make us comfortable and welcome. We were given use of the dining/living room to make hot drinks whenever we wanted, a plate of gingerbread to tuck into and comfortable armchairs to relax in. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and comfortable.

Superb

My daughter and I have recently returned from our fourth visit to Cnoc nam Uan. We have been extremely satisfied with all aspects of our stays. Effie is a most kind, considerate and generous hostess who makes the comfort and convenience of her guests her priority. The surrounding countryside is alive with the sight and sound of birds. Highly recommended if you want a taste of Hebridean wildlife. We wish her well in her new venture

Comfortable stay with an unbeatable host

Effie warmly welcomed us into the B&B, showing us to sheltered storage for our bikes and offered us delicious cakes and tea. Wonderful dinner and a hearty breakfast to fuel our next day of cycling! Washing and drying facilities were a luxury. We were very pleased for Effie's easygoing company and knowledge of the Hebrides. She went well out of her way ensuring all our needs were met. A true home from home.

Cycling the Hebridean Way

A fantastic welcoming, very homely B&B, tea & cake was served on arrival, then a lovely dinner. My bed was very comfortable. A wonderful breakfast was served after a good night's sleep. Highly recommended and very close to the lovely Balranald RSPB reserve.

Wildlife and Natural Landscape

For those with a love of wildlife and birdwatching, our accommodation is perfectly positioned for the keen birdwatcher. With regular sightings of sea eagles, golden eagles, short-eared owls and numerous wading birds and sea birds in the nearby lochs and coastlines, this is the ideal location for wildlife spotting. From May to late July, corncrakes are often heard and seen around our property and at the local Nature Reserve. Guests can participate in local events at Balranald Nature Reserve during the summer. Otters can also be seen on nearby coastlines and in lochs.

Cyclists & Walkers Welcome

We have ample parking for guest cars within our secluded grounds. We welcome cyclists and walkers. Bicycles can be housed overnight in one of our outbuildings. When cyclists/walkers arrive cold and wet, the front porch, which has a heated towel rail, provides an ideal facility for hanging clothes to dry. Hot drinks are provided for those who are cold and wet on arrival. All guests will be welcomed with a cup of tea/coffee and home baking.
